Open Letter
to Bhutan Prime Minister Lyonchoen Jigme Y.
Thinley.
Your
Excellency, Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchoen Jigme Y.
Thinley.
The bellow is my response to your interview with Solutions Journal
- "Teaching Happiness: The Prime Minister of Bhutan Takes on
Education"

It would be possible to worry less about the future consequences of
"globalization" if we, collectively (all of who have a stake in the
future of this planet), knew what kind of a future we want to
strive together for.
It is true that individually we want different kinds of future that
are incompatible with the ideas of others, but here is where we
have to start reconciling our ideas of what would be good for the
whole planet with the ideas of all others, by what-so-ever
expedient means, before this reconciliation takes place in real
life, bringing with itself all the destruction and waste of lives,
resources, and (above all) time, which we are running out of,
because the rate of the destruction is faster than the effects of
our feeble efforts to deal with the myriad of problems brought upon
our heads by humankind's past actions--the way we have usually been
going about trying to improve our quality of life so far.
We shall never experience a true lasting state of peace on Earth if
don't have a very clear idea, shared by all of us, of what this
state of lasting peace should look like. As long as we don't know
what it is that we are trying to accomplish, that long a
satisfactory future for us all will elude us.
A few attempts at trying to reconcile our ideas of what the ideal
state of things in the world should are being made, but to date
none of them is capable of including all of our ideas about what
the future for us all should be on a scale large enough to be
satisfactorily practicable.
Please read the material at ModelEarth.Org to see if you would be interested in
helping to introduce the concept of cooperatively designing our
common future with the participation of all who have a stake in
planet Earth becoming a true home to all who share it.
Thank you sincerely -
